On behalf of the European Society for Microcirculation (ESM) and the European Vascular Biology Organisation (EVBO), we are pleased to announce that our two societies will hold a joint meeting under the auspices of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) conference in Birmingham from July 21-26, 2013. The Physiological Society will be responsible for management of the IUPS conference, including site hire, organisation of the professional trade exhibition, online submission of symposia and abstracts, registration, accommodation and advertising. Importantly, IUPS registration fees for our members are modest: £295 for full fee delegates and only £90 for young or retired delegates.
ESM and EVBO members submitted a total of 52 symposia for ranking by a joint ESM/EVBO scientific committee and, based on these rankings, we submitted 28 symposia for consideration by the IUPS scientific committee. Our symposia will be identified as ESM/EVBO led symposia, and Giovanni Mann (ESM President 2013) and Jeremy Pearson (EVBO Council member) will represent ESM/EVBO interests on the IUPS scientific committee.
The Symposium submission is now closed, and our proposals will be evaluated by the IUPS Scientific Committee together with the other proposals received for different and related themes. Almost 300 proposals have been made and the IUPS International Scientific Programme Committee (ISPC) will seek to communicate its decisions by late March 2012.
